The Rainbow Kite Story

Let's start at the beginning...

Rainbow Kite Project started as a collective vision when our co-founders were working together in special needs further education. We saw first hand how, once young people with complex needs reach 16+, services become complicated, variable, often invisible and can at times be low quality, which we all agreed needed to change!

We strongly believe that the focus of support and education should naturally shift to building young people's skills within the community which they are going to need to access when they become an adult, and often these skills will need to be repeated and supported long term to enable people with complex needs to truly develop their independence.

We began to put our vision into reality when Becca started Red Kite Advocacy, and built a client base who benefited hugely from the person-centred, relationship based specialist support she could offer. She was soon joined by Ellen , and we have since gone from strength to strength, and hope to broaden our client base and community of independence champions to enable more people with complex needs to benefit from our unique offer.

Our mission is to use our collective skillset and expertise to offer high quality support to children, young people and adults with a variety of needs. Our aim is to enable these individuals to interact successfully with their own communities in order to build on their independence, mental and physical wellbeing, lifelong opportunities to learn new skills and have a fulfilled life.

Our team consists of passionate independence champions who offer specialist services in their area of interest. As a community, we work together to share our strengths and skills, support each other, and continuously improve our practice to provide the best possible service to our clients.
