Our Support Services

Rainbow Kite Project is a community of SEN specialists who offer a range of support services for individuals with autism, learning disabilities, complex needs, and PDA.

We offer a selection of services which have been designed with our clients at the centre.

Our services are streamed into 4 different projects; Specialist Support, Education, Community and Advocacy. Please find out more in each section below.

Specialist Support

Our independence champions will design a support package around your needs to build your skills in your local community. You might have goals you want to achieve, places you want to visit or routines you want to build to enable you to lead your life as independently as possible. We have extensive experience supporting people with complex needs to work on all areas of their life skills and independence.

Support can include:

  • Accessing your local community (shopping, eating out, cinema, parks, local walks, the list is truly endless!)

  • Attending clubs/services

  • Travel training

  • Budgeting & money skills

  • Life skills and home management

  • Exercise (gym, swimming, walks etc)

  • Mental health support

  • Building confidence away from home

  • Accessing work experience/ building employability skills

  • Outdoor pursuits

  • Volunteering

  • Accessing learning through courses and training

Education (Tutoring and EOTAS)

We have a very strong ethos of building positive relationships to support our clients with their self-directed goals, and this is the cornerstone of our educational support packages.

We prioritise making genuine, trauma informed relationships with the client in the first phase of supporting them, so that they are then able to access support which they feel confident and engaged with.

The second phase of our support involves building learning around clients' interests, wishes and goals, as we believe in the power of delivering learning opportunities within individuals' own communities.

All of our independence champions are highly specialised and experienced in supporting people 1.1, and the ongoing third phase of our support involves working closely with our clients, their families and multi-agency teams to build in supportive and exciting opportunities for further learning and development.

Previous education support has included:

  • Tutoring for GCSE's

  • Supporting a client to build confidence out of the house

  • Introducing volunteering positions and supporting with increasing independence

  • Accessing learning through courses and training

  • Joining clients where they are, including getting involved in their specialist interests, starting in their safe places and building on their time using their own ideas and goals.

  • Preparation for adulthood through life skills and independence support

Community Projects

Many of our clients find it challenging to find a friendly, welcoming place they can access for a sense of community. This is something we are passionate about providing as part of our community projects.

Our projects include:

  • A fortnightly board game group at Monkey Park Cafe, Chesterfield.

  • A monthly group trip out to fun events, with full support if needed.

  • Our therapeutic allotment space, which we use to run groups, 1.1 activities and skills development sessions for our clients.

If you have any ideas of community activities you would like to see, run in a neuro-affirmative, low pressure way, then we'd love to hear from you!

Find out more about our current sessions on our calendar on the home page.
